Naperville advocate for the homeless to speak Nov. 30

Naperville-based writer, filmmaker, and full-time homeless advocate, Diane Nilan, will be on show on Tuesday, November 30th at 1:00 p.m. at the Prisco Center of the Fox Valley Park District at 150 W. Illinois Ave. in Aurora to talk about their mission.

The public is invited. Entry and parking are free.

Since leaving Aurora’s homeless shelter, Hesed House, as managing director, Nilan has been driving her RV across the United States to raise awareness of the plight of homeless families and support laws.

She will talk about her activities and present an excerpt from her book “Dismazed and Driven”. In addition, Nilan will accept donations of disposable diapers and feminine hygiene products for the interfaith food pantry in the Aurora area of ​​Aurora.

Nilan was instrumental in passing the Illinois Education for Homeless Children Act in 1994 and the McKinney Vento Act in 2001.
