Chicago Youth Programs wins $ 102,000 as Community All-Pros winner

The overall goal of CYP is for every child to complete the education they need to escape poverty and its associated health and social risks. They aim to help teens as early as possible, preferably by the age of three, and to keep them busy preparing for high school and eventually the secondary school of their choice. In addition, they provide a strong holistic foundation for their long-term success, helping teenagers avoid gang involvement, underage drug and alcohol use, and other unhealthy choices. The programs fall into five houses that together make up the CYP Community of Care: Academic Success, Mentoring, Social-Emotional Learning, Health and Wellness, and Art and Culture.

CYP looks after around 650 young people every year. On average, 77 percent of CYP adolescents are placed in higher education, compared to less than 10 percent of their peers with at least 60 percent graduating from college / business school. In the past six years, 100 percent of teens have graduated from high school, and 98 percent of those graduates have graduated from college.

Over 100 applications were received and examined by an impartial internal committee and narrowed down to 10 finalists before a group of season ticket holders selected CYP as the winner. The Community All-Pros Initiative began in 2019 in honor of the organization’s centenary season when the Bears recognized 10 different local charities, nominated by fans, who each received a Bears100 Community All-Pros Scholarship of $ 100,000 received a total of $ 1 million in donations; 2019 recipients included Habitat for Humanity Chicago, Easterseals of DuPage & Fox Valley, Chicago Furniture Bank, Blessings in a Backpack, Hephzibah Children’s Association, GiGi’s Playhouse, Midwest Shelter for Homeless Veterans, Cradles to Crayons, Cara, and Center for Enriched Living.
