Chicago will experience cold wind chills for the next few days – NBC Chicago

The Chicago area experienced some of the coldest temperatures of the season on Wednesday, but that was just a warm-up for the cold conditions expected in the days ahead.

The wind chill in the city of Chicago will stay below zero overnight and through Thursday morning and will be even colder in the suburbs away from Lake Michigan and, according to forecast models, will drop to 10 to 15 degrees below zero.

In fact, wind chills could stay below zero in some spots even in the afternoon, with highs expected to hit mid-teens on Thursday. Windy conditions keep things cool, but most of the area stays dry.

There may be some snow in some locations in northwest Indiana, but most of that rainfall will remain east of Porter County.

During the night from Thursday to Friday, the wind chills get even colder, with temperatures below 20 degrees Celsius in some locations. It gets a little warmer near Lake Michigan.

After another day of highs in the middle teenage teens on Friday, there will be a bit of a warm-up in the Chicago area on Saturday, with highs stretching back to the mid-30s.

However, this will be accompanied by a different storm system, with mixed rainfall likely to make rain for most of the day on Saturday.

After a windy Sunday with temperatures around freezing point, highs are expected again for teenagers at the start of the new working week.
