A candlelight vigil was held in Naperville to mark the one year anniversary of the Capitol Riot.

The vigil was held at the Naperville Free Speech Pavilion on Jackson Avenue.

Congressman Marie Newman spoke with Congressmen Sean Casten and Bill Foster at the event.

Newman had only been in Washington for three days when the U.S. Capitol was stormed.

She said the situation could have been worse if the Capitol police had not acted.

While Newman was being taken to her office, Congressman Mike Quigley was in the House of Representatives Chamber. He says he remembers the insurgents looking at the steps of the East Capitol.

Quigley says he’s feeling safer inside the Capitol thanks to the changes in the Capitol Police Department, but he’s still concerned about who started the rioters in the first place.
