NAPERVILLE, IL — Naperville Central will have its first principal in history when assistant principal Jackie Thornton replaces principal Bill Wiesbrook, who will retire at the end of the 2022-3 school year.
Thornton has been the Associate Director of Curriculum and Instruction for Naperville Central for 19 years. She began her career as a high school math teacher and math instruction coordinator after earning a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Benedictine University and a master’s degree in educational leadership and administration from North Central College.
“Throughout the search process, Jackie Thornton stood out as the best candidate for Naperville Central High School’s next principal,” District 203 Superintendent Dan Bridges said in a press release.
He added, “Jackie has dedicated her professional career to Naperville 203 and Naperville Central High School. I look forward to the future at Naperville Central.”
In a statement, Thornton said she felt “so lucky to have spent [her] entire career at Naperville Central and contributed to and learned from a history rich in Redhawk success and pride.”
She continued, “I am proud to be a professional educator in a distinguished school district and am honored and humbled to have the confidence to serve as principal and lead Naperville Central in its next chapter.”
Thornton will take office as Director on July 1, 2022. Families have an opportunity to get to know them better in February when District 203 holds feedback sessions.
