Marquise Goodwin of Bears tells Andy Dalton touchdown pass – NBC Chicago

In Goodwin, Dalton’s Hail Mary touchdown originally appeared on NBC Sports Chicago in the fourth quarter

The vast majority of the Bears’ Week 11 loss to the Ravens was ugly. Offense stagnated, defense gave up big games to give up losing the game, there were stupid mistakes and questionable calls, and Justin Fields was injured. But for one brilliant moment, in the worst of circumstances, the Bears put on a play and gave fans on Soldier Field something to cheer on.

In a 4th and 11th game at the 49-yard line in Baltimore, two points, just 1:48 seconds back, Andy Dalton and Marquise Goodwin scored for a Hail Mary touchdown.

“I knew Andy might check because it was zero coverage and I didn’t see any security, I didn’t see anyone,” Goodwin said. “I just drove my route. It was an easy go route and Andy made the perfect throw. He made my job very easy for me. I know it looks like I played this crazy game, but I literally just ran under the ball. Perfect ball from the quarterback. “

It was a game that Goodwin said he and Dalton had been working on all the way back to training camp, and he had a faint suspicion that they would make it before the game even started.

“When they told us the other corners weren’t playing and there was going to be a rookie out there, I kind of wanted to go for guys like that,” Goodwin said. “They lack experience and just the tech is just different, so build it up and give me a chance and we bonded.”

They connected at the perfect time, but of course lost. This heartbreaking result clouded Goodwin’s feelings for the big deal.

“My emotions are everywhere right now. I’m a little exhausted, but I’m just grateful that I can still play this game. I’m 31, celebrated my birthday a few days ago, now I’m playing the game I love out here. “
