The girls’ basketball season kicks off with the Warhawk tournament with Naperville North coming into play after defeating Romeoville. Your opponent is the Oswego Panthers, who want to recover after giving up 80 points to Waubonsie Valley.
North attacked first when Abby Drendel got the ball and she passed it to her teammate Mackenzie Hare for three. 20 points in the game for the seniors as it is 8-1 north.
Oswego tries to make up ground. Kaisje ‘Pryor is near the top of the key and she puts it in from below to reduce the gap to four.
Layla Henderson steals the ball and passes it to Hare when the Bartlett transfer drops another three-pointer as it falls. Then she returns to defense and pounces on yet another theft. The ball finds Henderson for layup. What an episode. 13-4 North after the quick 5-0 run.
In the first, time is ticking. Oswegos Kaila Schlinger receives the pass and ends up in tears. Huskies until 12 after the first.
Second quarter with North still getting his way. Hareshots to Henderson and she knocks the triple down to make it a 20 point lead.
After a missed panther free throw, Peyton Fenner gets the rebound and pushes him down. She pulls in the defense and kicks Hope Aniceto into the corner. This is nothing but net and the huskies go into the break with 43: 9.
Third quarter and Sarah Crossett makes herself felt. She gets the rebound after the missed three and uses it again with the turnaround push shot. Your team leads at 22.
Kendall Johnson misses the pull-up, but Crossett cleans up again. With a confident 65:21 victory, the Huskies start the season 2-0.
