Danka Kovinic is a Montenegrin professional tennis player.
On the 22nd February 2016, she set a personal record by setting a singles rank of No. 46. On her 20th June 2016 she reached her highest ranking at No. 70 in WTA doubles rankings.
She made her professional debut in the year 2010
Kovinic has been ranked as high as No. 46 (back during the year), and following a two and a half-year absence from the Top 100 (April 2017 – October 2019), she has become an integral member of the sport’s top. She’s a three-time WTA Tour winner. Her most memorable final performance was at Charleston’s WTA 500 (l. infront of Kudermetova). She is currently the world’s No.1 player. 80.
Her most impressive major performances are from this year.
Kovinic won two matches on the major stage in 2022 before that. She’s had double that this year due to her third-round performances at both the Australian Open and Roland Garros. In Melbourne, she beat Emma Raducanu, the incoming US Open champion. In Paris, she defeated the No. Liudmila Samanthasonova, the 25th seed, was the closest to ending Iga’s streaks of unbeaten play at the time.
Raducanu’s upset in January was significant as Kovinic became the first Montenegrin player ever to reach three rounds at a Grand Slam tournament. She’s also one of just two players from her nation currently on the WTA singles rankings–countrywoman Vladica Babic is more than 900 spots behind.
