Nancy Lee Schaaf (nee Vas) at the age of 77 passed away peacefully in her home on Saturday, October 2nd, 2021. She was a longtime resident of Lisle, IL and was born on December 17, 1943 in Chicago, IL.
Nancy graduated from Blue Island Community High School (now Dwight D. Eisenhower) in 1961. Nancy was an entrepreneur who co-founded the RE / MAX Affiliates, Inc. franchise in Naperville in 1985, where she worked as a broker / owner for many years. In 2005 she earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Northwood University. Nancy attended Compass Church in Naperville.
Beloved wife of 57 years of Donald G. Schaaf, loving mother of Donald (Erin) Schaaf, Jr., of Mokena, IL, Cynthia (Darin) Davenport of Naperville and Elizabeth (Michael) Selman of Naperville, honored grandmother and known fondly as “Nanner” to Macy and Trace Schaaf; Andrea, Corey, and Kyle Davenport; Grace, Ella and Paige Selman, dear sister of Judith (Jerry) Austin from Mokena, IL, and John (Susan) Vas from Oklahoma City, OK, dear sister-in-law, aunt, great-aunt, cousin and friend of many, including her carer Nelson. Her parents John Vas and Violet Jannes (née Van Pelt) preceded her in death.
Nancy loved traveling, eating out, and playing bridge, but her favorite pastime was spending time with family, especially her grandchildren. She was generous, kind, known for her infectious smile and her heart for others.
The memorial will take place on Sunday, October 10, 2021, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 44 S Mill St., Naperville.
A celebration of Nancy’s life follows on Monday, October 11th, 10:30 am at the funeral home.
The funeral will be private.
