Mary Dorn Obituary (1952 – 2022) – Naperville, IL

Mary Jean Dorn (nee: Meahl) age 69, joined the Lord in Heaven on August 31, 2022, following a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Chicago, IL on September 21, 1952, Mary was a loving daughter to Rita J. (nee Carson) and Richard A. Meahl, both deceased. She was a proud graduate of Queen of Peace High School in Chicago, IL (Class of 1970) and Edgewood College in Madison, WI (Class of 1974). Mary is survived by her devoted husband of nearly 50 years, Thomas C. Dorn, three daughters, sons-in-law and beloved grandchildren, Katie Fiamingo (husband Steve, children Claire & James), Liz Whelan (husband Bill, children Anna, Declan & Darcy), and Maggie Kratofil (husband AJ, son Ren); her dear brother Richard M. Meahl (wife Kelly). Her passion as a mother, grandmother, sister and friend were an inspiration to all who knew her. A dedicated servant of God, Mary was a long-time parishioner of Saints Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Naperville, IL where she was a fervent champion of Life. Mary also cherished her time as a teacher, but her role as “Gaga” to her grandchildren was her greatest joy. A Memorial Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 15, 2022, from 4 pm to 8 pm at Friedrich Jones Funeral Home, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville, IL 60540. The Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Friday, September 16, 2022, at 11 am at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 36 Ellsworth St., Naperville, IL 60540.
