Grand opening of The Sweetwater Co.

Co-owners Brook Youngdahl and Kelsi Williams were brought together by their husbands to get their botique idea off the ground, and they’re running with it now!

Located inside the old art gallery building on 8th N Broadway, The Sweetwater Co. offers all kids of fun things for the ladies in your life; clothes, jewelry, home decorations, etc. The powerful couple are really excited to bring a business like this to the Cook County area.

“We’ve been traveling to markets in Atlanta and Vegas,” Williams shared. “We do our own shopping in the Minneapolis area and bigger cities. And we really just wanted to bring a little bit of what we found that we liked in other stores to Cook County, to fill a niche for our tourism community and then also for our local women as well.”

The tourism industry up the North Shore is starting to build back again post-pandemic, and the two have more to offer than just clothing and trinkets.

“We do have two vacation rentals that we’re working on finishing up on the second floor,” Williams shared. “We have a one bedroom and a two bedroom that are in their final stages. So we’re going to start putting furniture into those this week and hopefully get those online next week, too, so people can stay and shop in the same space .”

Right now, The Sweetwater Co. is getting their feet wet in the world of retail, but are hoping to expand to online shopping in the near future.

“Our plan this fall, winter, is to get our stuff online,” Youngdahl explained. “We’ll be doing lives once a week and, you know, pushing inventory, merchandise that way.”

You can find The Sweetwater Co. on both Instagram and Facebook, and a link to their website can be found here.
