Metea Valley Girls’ Volleyball travels to Naperville Central to battle the Redhawks, where the Mustangs are setting up a clinic. This highlight is sponsored by BMO Harris Bank.
We’re in Naperville Central, where the Redhawks play girls volleyball against Metea Valley at home. The Mustangs have a winning streak of 11 games while Central are hoping to create a surprise.
First movement, Annabelle Troy served and upon the return of the Redhawks, Metea Libero Morgan Rank sets it up well for Kira Huston, who spears it at the feet of Zoe Kennedy.
Hutson is now scoring points in the service department as he hits the net and Rachel Chalkey goes out for the ace.
Mustangs are big in this set and after a few actions on the net, Troy interferes when she smashes Emma Bludgen’s assist to extend the lead.
One of Central’s few brilliant moments in Set 1 comes from Sophia Zanca getting a mighty kill and her teammates love it.
But it was all Metea. Maura Pilafas’s spike attempt is blocked, but Regan Holmer executes a nice two-handed tap that falls in the middle of the defense and the Mustangs crush the Warriors with 25-8 in the first set.
Set two and pilafas would convert here. Holmer volleys it and the senior goes upstairs to kill it and secure the point for black and gold.
Kira Hutson was all over the field in that match, which it was all season. Holmer sets it up and it smashes it. Hutson led the team with 15 kills.
However, the Redhawks showed more fighting in this set. Orianna Meredith is playing a great game when she flips it over the top and Morgan Rank tries to dive after the excavation but can’t get there in time.
Some great action between both teams at this rally as they go back and forth. Eventually, Annabelle Troy tries to spice it up, but Nina Davis sends it away and Central doesn’t give up.
But again it was too many Mustangs. Hutson complements her impressive night with a little finesse on this tip and Metea runs away with it to a two-set victory. Their winning streak extends to 12 and they are unbeaten in the DVC.
