Girls Tennis DVC Tournament 10.09.2021

The Girls Tennis DVC Tournament takes place at Metea Valley High School, where Neuqua Valley once again brings home the DVC title. This highlight is sponsored by BMO Harris Bank.

Metea Valley is hosting the 2021 Girls Tennis DVC Tournament. Naperville North is the favorite with a perfect conference record in the regular season, but Neuqua Valley is looking to change that with another DVC plaque.

An individual semi-final

Let’s start with the semi-finals for an individual. Sofia Olaru of Naperville Central sweeps her way past Aaryana Parekh from North. It’s a clear 6-0, 6-0 result and that brings you to the final.

Let’s look at Olaru’s potential opponents. It is Neuqua’s Emily Chiou who competes against Waubonsie’s Talya Ertas. We have some back-and-forth action, but the Wildcat wins in straight sets 6-1 and 6-0 and prepares their championship matchup with Olaru.

One double semifinals

On the one hand, the double semifinals. Meteas Sangita Siva and Sarina Saleem find a way to get past North’s duo Callie Genovese and Tiffany Cheng. It’s a hard-earned three-set win for the Mustangs.

The other semifinals are Neuqua’s Abby Allen and Emiley Piao against Central’s Mira Patel and Gianna Xiao. The Wildcat duo also take the match in three sets and waited almost five hours beforehand, but it was worth it when they advance to the final.

An individual final

To the final for a single. Central’s Sofia Olaru seeks revenge on Neuqua’s Emily Chiou after falling against her in the regular season and it looks promising after beating the Wildcat that point.

Chiou wants to return the favor, however. She gets one point on Olaru, but the Redhawk wins the first set in a narrow 6-4.

Next set and Olaru just dominates. Chious forces can’t handle the power of Sofia Olaru, who is your DVC champion in singles.

One-doubles final

Now for the individual final between Meteas Sangita Siva and Sarina Saleem against Neuqua’s Abby Allen and Emiley Piao.

The Wildcat duo strikes first when Piao sees the ball and knocks it to the ground to score the point.

Metea will not go down without a fight. Saleem sees the ball and places it on the other side of the net. Mustangs keep their title hopes alive.

However, it was just too much new qua. Allen and Piao grab the point and play the Mustangs to take home their second straight DVC crown with Naperville North on second and Naperville Central on third.
