Donald Bendis Obituary (2022) – Lockport, IL
Age 86, late of Plainfield passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 16, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. Born and raised in Superior, WI and a resident of Plainfield for the past 24 years. A proud United States Korean War Navy Veteran. He graduated from Cathedral High School, Superior, WI in 1953, after being honorably discharged from the United States Navy he received a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from University of Wisconsin Madison. He was very honored to have worked at the Kennedy Space Center. Member of St Dennis Church and Choir. Former member of St. Thomas The Apostle Church, Naperville, where he successfully established a food pantry to help those in need. He was an avid golfer, but above all else cherished spending time with his family.
Preceded in death by his parents, Joseph, and Edith (Nee Kalinoski) Bendis; and one sister, Dorothy Ann Bendis.
Survived by his devoted wife of 64 years, Dottie Bendis; four loving children, Bob Bendis, Joe (Celeste) Bendis, Susan (Frank) Senese, and Dave (Kim) Bendis; twelve grandchildren, Sterling, Emily, Josh, Justin, Antoinette, Michael, Frank Jr., Bella, Susan, David Jr., Eliana, and Michaela; 4 great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Dianne (Al) Dedick, and Darlene Dabe; and one nephew, Chris (Heather) Dabe. Other cherished family members and friends also survive.
In lieu of flowers memorial to the Alzheimer’s Association in Don’s Name would be greatly appreciated.
Prayers will be held on Wednesday, June 22, 2022, in the O’Neil Funeral Home chapel 1105 E. 9th St., Lockport, IL 60441 at 9:15am to St. Dennis Church, Lockport for Mass of Christian Burial at 10: 00am.
Interment following Mass at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery, Naperville.
Visitation Tuesday, June 21, 2022, in the funeral home chapel from 4:00pm until 8:00pm.
