Colder temperatures make for a cool long holiday weekend – NBC Chicago

Get ready for a chilly Thanksgiving weekend in Chicago.

After a mild but windy Wednesday, colder temperatures will return for the long holiday weekend as Thursday highs across the region hit the low to mid 40s.

There is a slight chance of an early day shower, particularly in northwest Indiana, but conditions are expected to brighten by the afternoon.

Some lake effect snow showers may also be possible later in the day in northwest Indiana.

Friday appears to be getting even colder as the highs fall in the mid-30s, an unusually cold shift for the region.

Temps are expected to return to the 40s on Saturday and Sunday, which will both have a slight chance of rain or snow.
