Chicago’s first Hilton Lifestyle hotel, Canopy by Hilton Chicago Central Loop, opens on landmark Hospitality Net
The 117-year-old building has been converted into a double-brand hotel complex with 350 new guest rooms and suites in Chicago’s Loop district.
Canopy by Hilton Chicago Central Loop Opened as the first Hilton Lifestyle hotel and the first Canopy by Hilton hotel in Chicago. Hilton’s new lifestyle hotel at 226 W. Jackson – the former location of the bustling headquarters of the legendary Chicago and North Western Railway – joins the recently opened one Hilton Garden Inn Chicago Central Loop to become a double-brand inn in the city’s Loop district.
The complex comprises 350 guest rooms and suites between the two buildings and offers two in-house restaurant concepts, two unique conference and event rooms, an in-house fitness center and an outdoor terrace. Developed by Chicago-based Phoenix Development Partners and operated by Aimbridge Hospitality, the new complex serves as a sign of hope and growth for tourism and travel in Chicago. A prime destination for business and leisure travel, the accommodations are steps from many large corporate offices, co-working spaces like Convene, social centers like the Metropolitan Club, fine dining, and award-winning entertainment and attractions like the Willis Tower, and Skydeck.
The Canopy Chicago Central Loop offers 215 guest rooms, including 23 spacious king-size suites and the Depot 226 Restaurant, under the direction of Chef Tim Letsos. The modern, boutique-style concept is designed as a natural extension of the Loop District, just steps away from major landmarks and institutions such as the Willis Tower Skydeck, the Lyric Opera of Chicago, the Chicago Theater District and much more. Guests can enjoy a ride on the hotel’s free canopy bikes to explore the local area, and canopy enthusiasts (hotel team members) are on hand to connect guests with the best of the neighborhood, from sightseeing tours to hidden gems .
The Canopy Chicago Central Loop pays homage to the site’s rich history through its stylish design and incorporates subtle nuances that reflect and celebrate its past, including the famous Chicago and North Western Railway. An impressive grand entrance greets guests while the interior design by Anderson / Miller, Ltd. highlights the golden age of rail travel. Some unique elements of the building are intact for guests, including the original stairwells and lobbies. A variety of mixed media works, including historical pieces, architectural fragments, and more, are found everywhere celebrating travel, cartography, and Chicago’s rich history.
