Two children rescued and their mother injured during hotel fire Friday in Naperville – Chicago Tribune
Two children were rescued and their mother injured in a fire Friday at a hotel at the 1800 block of Diehl Road in Naperville, fire officials said.
Firefighters arrived about 12:40 pm to find heavy smoke and flames coming from an air conditioning unit on the second floor of the building’s north side, according to a Naperville Fire Department report.
While crews extinguished the fire from the interior hallway, two children were removed through a second-floor window while their mother and the family dog exited through the interior stairs, the report said.
The children were not injured but their mother required treatment for minor injuries at Edward Hospital in Naperville, officials said. The children’s father was not injured.
One firefighter also was evaluated at the scene for a minor injury, the report said.
The Naperville Fire Department was assisted on the scene by the Naperville Police Department and the Lisle-Woodridge and Wheaton fire departments provided backup coverage.
The fire remains under investigation.
