The Wisconsin Athletic Department condemns the actions of fans at Tuesday’s men’s basketball game Wisconsin Badgers men’s basketball
The University of Wisconsin Athletics Department condemned the actions of a UW fan during Tuesday’s Badgers men’s basketball game in Northwestern.
The fan sat across from the UW bank and next to the northwest student area. A video was posted on social media of him standing up, taking out the student department and then making a racist gesture.
The video then cuts to the fan speaking to a Northwest officer, followed by him being escorted out by several Northwest employees and at least one police officer. Northwestern Athletics confirmed the UW fan was removed from the game.
“Northwestern expressly prohibits all forms of discrimination and harassment of any student, coach, employee, official or guest,” a Northwestern spokesperson said in an email to the State Journal. “The actions of an individual towards the Wildcats varsity section at Tuesday’s men’s basketball game were unacceptable and a violation of our Fan Code of Conduct. We appreciate those who have spoken up and brought this behavior to our attention so that venue staff can take the appropriate steps to remove him from Welsh-Ryan Arena.”
