Western Hills University High School sent a letter to families and teachers on Thursday alerting them that a student had been killed in a shooting.
Although not named in the letter, district officials confirm that 16-year-old Javeir Randolph was a student at West Price Hill Public School.
“Our student’s untimely death has had a dramatic impact on our school community,” said school principal Carlos Blair.
Javeir was fatally shot and killed Wednesday in Evanston near Walnut Hill High School.
Police said his mother was present when he died behind a house on Jonathan Avenue. It was the second murder in Evanston in 24 hours.
Blair said the district’s crisis response team will be available to students and implored students to seek help as they try to process this incident.
No arrests were made in the murder of Javeir. The Cincinnati Police Department has seen a surge in gun violence over the past few weeks. Department heads have asked the public to call CrimeStoppers at 513-352-3040, where tips can be left anonymously if they have information about the recent shootings.
