Resident reports receiving fraudulent phone from someone claiming to be from Social Security – Chicago Tribune

The following items were taken from Glenview Police Department reports, news releases and records. An arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt.

UNLAWFUL USE OF A WEAPON

Victor Miller Arias, 26, of the 9000 block of North Wisner Street in Niles was charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, possession of a firearm with a defaced serial number, driving with a suspended license, driving an uninsured motor vehicle, illegal transportation of alcohol and improper lane usage Aug. 21. He was arrested after a traffic stop in the 600 block of Milwaukee Avenue. He was transported to Cook County Court in Skokie for a bond hearing.

POSSESSION OF A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE

Marc Okerblad, 31, of the 500 block of Harrison Street on Batavia was charged with possession of methamphetamine and aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol Aug 19. He was transported to Cook County Court in Skokie for a bond hearing.

BATTERY

Samuel Bova, 36, of the 4500 block of Lilac Avenue in Glenview was charged with domestic battery Aug. 19. He was arrested after an incident in the 1500 block of Executive Lane. He was transported to Cook County Court in Skokie for a bond hearing.

Lupe Aguilar Munoz, 39, of the 1500 block of Greenwood Road in Glenview was charged with battery Aug. 23. He was arrested following the investigation of an incident July 15 in the 1700 block of Greenwood. He was released on bond and is scheduled to appear in Cook County Court Sept. 21 in Skokie.

DUI

James Addante, 60, of the 3800 block of Knollwood Lane in Glenview was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and driving in the wrong lane Aug. 25. He was arrested following a traffic stop in the 3800 block of Knollwood. He was released on bond and is scheduled to appear in Cook County Court Oct. 6 in Skokie

WARRANT APPREHENSION

Roshannah Hoard, 32, of the 400 block of Mount Ida in St. Paul, Minnesota, was apprehended on an outstanding warrant for assault from the Cook County Sheriff’s Department Aug. 25 while in the 1400 block of Milwaukee Avenue. She was released on bond and is scheduled to appear in Cook County Court Oct. 11 in Chicago.

CRIMINAL TRESPASS

Leesa Cordell, 57, of the 100 block of North First Street in Capron was charged with criminal trespass to a residence and criminal trespass to a vehicle Aug. 23. Sue was arrested after an investigation into an incident in the 1700 block of Central Road. She was released on bond and is scheduled to appear in Cook County Court Oct. 5 in Skokie.

BURGLARY

Armando Velazquez, 27, of the 700 block of Hackberry Lane in Mount Prospect was charged with burglary Aug. 19. He was arrested following an investigation of an incident at a business in the 1500 block of Waukegan Road. He was transported to Cook County Court in Skokie for a bond hearing.

Erick Kawala, 30, of the 1800 block of Tower Drive in Glenview was charged with burglary Aug. 29. He was arrested following an investigation of an incident at a residence in the 1500 block of Annapolis Drive. He was transported to Cook County Court in Skokie for a bond hearing.

A resident of Ft. Lee, New Jersey, reported an unknown individual or individuals stole the catalytic converter from their vehicle while it was parked in the 4500 block of West Lake Avenue between Aug. 17 and Aug. 18.

A resident in the 1600 block of Independence Avenue reported a cellular telephone charger was taken from their unlocked vehicle while it was parked at their residence.

A Plainfield resident reported an unknown individual stole their wallet from their unlocked vehicle while it was parked in the 2800 block of Pfingsten Road Aug. 19.

The facilities manager at a building in the 3600 block of West Lake Avenue reported an unknown individual entered the building between June 6 and July 27 breaking lights, windows and furniture pieces.

A Glenview resident reported an unknown individual entered their unlocked vehicle and stole electronic equipment Aug. 22.

A Glenview resident reported an unknown individual stole the catalytic converter from their vehicle between Aug. 21 and Aug. 22 while it was parked in the 900 block of Harlem Avenue.

A Northbrook resident reported an unknown individual entered their unlocked vehicle stealing their purse containing two wallets, credit cards, identification documents and electronic equipment Aug. 22.

THEFT

Stephanie Fey, 38, of the 800 block of Division Street in Lombard and Amanda Chavez of the 4800 block of West Wallace Street in Chicago were charged with felony retail theft Aug. 22. They were arrested following the investigation of an incident at a business in the 2800 block of Pentecost Road. They were transported to Cook County Court in Skokie for a bond hearing.

A Glenview resident reported an unknown individual stole their unlocked bicycle from a parking garage in the 1600 block of Glenview Road Aug. 20.

A Glenview resident reported their unlocked bicycle was stolen buy an unknown offender while it was parked in a driveway in the 1500 block of Canterbury Drive Aug. 20.

A Glenview resident reported an unknown individual stole an accessory from their bicycle Aug. 21 while it was parked in the 1700 block of Waukegan Road.

A Glenview resident reported receiving a telephone call from a person saying they were an inspector general from the Social Security department telling the resident to wire $45,000 to a specific bank for “safe keeping.” After a second call, the resident realized they were scammed.

A man and two women asked a Glenview resident for directions to a retail business offering the resident a new watch as a reward Aug. 22. The three individuals told the resident to put their current watch in a sock to make the trade. When the resident looked inside the sock they found cosmetic jewelry and $28 cash but no watch.

A Northbrook resident reported while shopping at a Glenview retail business in the 2900 block of Patriot Blvd. an unknown individual stole their cellular telephone, a debit card and $900 cash from their purse Aug. 22.

ROBBERY

Glenview residents in the 1100 block of Whitsun Road reported an unknown man entered their home taking their wedding rings Aug 16. The man said he was a Glenview village employee sent to collect a water sample. He used the soapy water to remove their rings from the residents’ hands.

MRS

The manager of a business at the 2800 block of Patriot Blvd. reported Aug. 16 an employee used multiple persons identifying information to open fraudulent accounts.

DECEPTIVE PRACTICES

A business owner in the 1800 block of Glenview Road reported Aug. 17 receiving a bad check in the amount of $296.44 from a customer May 29.

IDENTITY THEFT

A Glenview resident reported Aug. 17 an unknown individual used their personal information to open a credit account.

A Glenview resident reported Aug. 17 an unknown individual used their personal information to open a cellular telephone account.

A Glenview resident reported Aug. 22 an unknown individual used their personal information to open a cellular telephone account.

FORGERY

An employee at a business in the 1200 block of Milwaukee Avenue reported Aug. 19 the company mailed a $3,000 check to a different business but it was cashed by an unintended recipient at an unknown bank location.
