Pair Sentenced In 2019 Attempted Murder In Oak Forest: County Clerk

CHICAGO HEIGHTS, IL — An Oak Forest man and Chicago man have been sentenced to over a decade in prison each after being charged in connection with the 2019 attempted murder of a Crestwood man.

According to the Cook County Clerk’s Office, Ha Zell Williams and Dashaun Colbert will serve 12 and 11 years in prison, respectively, after shooting a then 20-year-old man near Camp Sullivan in unincorporated Oak Forest.

Police said the shooting occurred July 1, 2018 at the 14600 block of Justamere Road. The victim was shot in the face and taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center. He survived, and both Williams and Colbert were charged a week later with attempted murder with intent to kill.

The duo were sentenced on May 18.
