A Chicago band seeks support to get back into music after a pretty devastating blow.
Musician David Paige of the band Student Body said nearly $10,000 worth of musical equipment and instruments were recently stolen.
According to the Paige and Chicago Police Department, the theft occurred Jan. 2 on the 800 block of North Rockwell in Humboldt Park.
The musician explained that the equipment, which included special microphones and an iPad, was stolen while he was getting items from his car for a party.
“We noticed things were missing and realized the last time we saw these items was on my birthday when I brought them into the apartment,” he said.
The theft only adds to the problems Paige and his bandmates have had to deal with, especially when it comes to the coronavirus. The COVID-19 pandemic has forced the band to play smaller venues, meaning they have to show up with all of their own gear.
And now those items are gone.
“Being already a separate company allowed us to focus more on that effort with our sound, our lights and everything that goes with that,” said Stephanie Paige, wife and bandmate of David Paige.
David Paige says renters insurance won’t cover the loss because their insurance agent said they use the times to make money.
“The impact is so much more than just some things that were taken from us,” he said. “It’s the emotional impact. It’s quite significant for us.”
