Jewelry, collectibles stolen on Cleveland

Jewelry and collectibles valued at $24,000 were stolen in the 1600 block of Cleveland Street. This among stories in Monday’s daily crime bulletin from Evanston police.

BURGLARY
1600 Cleveland
An Evanston couple in their 60s left their house on the 1600 block of Cleveland Street at about 8:15 pm Friday. When they returned home less than an hour later, they discovered that someone had broken into their home and made off with about $24,000 in expensive jewelry and other collectibles.

1500 Dewey
Yard and garden equipment was taken from an unlocked garage in the 1500 block of Dewey Avenue between 9 pm Saturday and 11:46 am Sunday.

1700 Wesley
A yellow Yuba cargo bicycle was stolen from an unlocked garage in the 1700 block of Wesley Avenue around 1 pm Friday.

2100 Hartrey
Someone attempted unsuccessfully to force open the front door to a residence at the 2100 block of Hartrey Avenue between 5 pm and 8:45 pm Saturday.

900 Judson
Miscellaneous items were taken from an unlocked 2012 Subaru in the 900 block of Judson Avenue around 3:30 pm Sunday.

811 Emerson
Stephen Anthony Craig, 65, of 2040 N. Pine, Waukegan, was arrested at 811 Emerson St. at 11:19 am Saturday and charged with burglary.

BATTERY
1911 Howard
Ivan Gonzalez Garcia, 29, of 1911 Howard St., was arrested at that address at 9:27 pm Saturday and charged with domestic battery. He is due in court on Sept. 29 at 9:30 am

500 dodges
Darnell S. Kelley, 40, of 5942 W. Rice St., Chicago, was arrested at 500 Dodge Ave. at 8:16 pm Sunday and charged with domestic battery. He is due in court on Sept. 28 at 9:30 am

1128 Chicago
Jason Lenzini, 55, of 901 Maple Ave., was arrested at 1128 Chicago Ave. at 8:22 pm Friday and charged with assault and battery. He is due in court on Oct. 3 at 9 am

2209 Emerson
Charles C. Roach, 54, of 2309 Emerson St., was arrested at 2209 Emerson St. at 11:04 pm Saturday and charged with domestic battery. He is due in court on Sept. 28 at 9:30 am

909 Davis
Anthony J. Verthein, 29, of 13811 S. Western Ave., Blue Island, was arrested at 909 Davis St. at 5:49 pm Saturday and charged with aggravated battery.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE
1900 Howard
Someone damaged the window of a residence at the 1900 block of Howard Street at 9:22 pm Saturday.

1900 Harrisons
Electric kitchen appliances were found damaged at a residence in the 1900 block of Harrison Street. It was estimated that the damage occurred between July 30 and 3:33 pm Sunday.

OTHER
Lake at Dodge
Someone reported seeing a man with a gun near Lake Street and Dodge Avenue at midnight Saturday. Police checked the area but found no man with a gun.

SHOT’S HEARD
1400 Sewards
Gunshots were reported in the 1400 block of Seward Street at 9:27 pm Sunday. Police checked the area but found nothing.

Dodge at Lake
Gunshots were reported at Dodge Avenue and Lake Street at 10:55 pm Friday. Police checked the area but found nothing.

THEFT
1000 Dobsonians
A white 2014 Chevrolet was stolen from the 1000 block of Dobson Street between 2 pm Tuesday and 10:30 am Wednesday.

1600 Sherman
An unsecured bicycle was stolen from a parking lot at the 1600 block of Sherman Avenue around 8 pm Thursday.

3200 Hartzell
An unsecured bicycle was stolen from the yard of a residence at the 3200 block of Hartzell Street between Sept. 10 and 10:17 am Saturday.

1700 Hinman
A secured bicycle was stolen from the sidewalk at the 1700 block of Hinman Avenue between 2 pm Friday and 6 pm Saturday.

1700 church
A package delivered to a residence at the 1700 block of Church Street was stolen between 6:30 pm Thursday and 2 am Friday.
