It’s time for the Carillon Cup Finals as defending champions Warriors Hockey Club take on the Naperville North Huskies. When these teams met during the regular season, the Warriors went through 2-1.
To begin with, the Warriors shoot one shot from the held point, but Owen Cope gets the ricochet and puts it back to open up the score.
A short time later, Ryan Burk throws a pass forward into the net, which Evan Ziegler finds, who doubles the lead.
Just 30 seconds later, the hockey club finds itself back in a two-on-one game when Ziegler fits in with Ian Altekruse, who finds the back of the net. Suddenly it’s 3-0.
Second period, green and gold keep it going when Devin Yaltuch somehow slides the puck over the line, giving the Warriors a four-goal lead.
The huskies are in a power game when Zach Zuspann brings the puck between the circles and shoots it onto the top shelf.
30 seconds later, Zuspann has the puck low down and sends a pass into the upper right circle to Seth Rang, who fires a shot to make it 4-2.
If you haven’t noticed, this is a high score game. 15 seconds later, Charlie shows Szymczak some fancy Dekes and brings them home. Three goals in 45 seconds for the huskies and it’s a one-goal game.
Warriors in search of air to breathe. Ryan Burk has a shot in the right circle that is absorbed by Sean Denker.
In the third round, Green and Gold are on the offensive early as Matt Dickinson has a runaway, but his shot is saved by Denker’s glove.
North is still looking for the balance. Patrick Hennessy shows his quick stick work, but his efforts are saved by Jack Poidomani.
Empty net for the huskies when Ben Gramigna has a shot that is covered by Poidomani and that is enough. The Warriors Hockey Club wins the Carillon Cup against Naperville North after a thrilling 4-3 win.
