Naperville North Football takes on Waubonsie Valley in a DVC match in which the Huskies secure playoff eligibility. This highlight is sponsored by BMO Harris Bank.
It’s the penultimate week of the regular season that the Waubonsie Valley Warriors travel to Naperville North Football to take on the Huskies, who currently have a three-game winning streak. A fourth win in a row for the blues and oranges would qualify them for the playoffs.
Five minutes into the first quarter, Aidan Gray of Naperville North hands over to Ethan Robert, who bullies and bullies his way for 45 yards on the run.
Robert gets the ball back and pushes forward into the end zone. Huskies with 7-0.
Later in the first, Gray finds Zeke Williams, who makes a big win and who is within the five, bringing North into the red zone.
Gray retains the option and he jumps into the end zone to extend the lead to 14-0.
North with the ball again early in the second when Gray fires into the end zone to find Zeke Williams for a nice toe-tap touchdown from 31 yards to make it a three-point game.
Mid of the third, Waubonsie has it on the offensive and Luke Elsea finds Tyler Helbing going up and getting it in the end zone to get the Warriors on the board.
In the fourth quarter, Gray has a Luke Williams wide open for an easy touchdown pass. This is a guy you don’t want to leave uncovered. Now 28-7 huskies.
Warrior in midfield when Elsea finds Helbing all alone and he dodges the tackle for the 55-yard touchdown. Second touchdown for Helbing. Great commitment from the senior.
After the touchdown, green and gold try to capture some momentum with the onside kick and Frankie Manzella wins the ball back.
Jacob Razo turns the special teams game into points as he breaks free for a 69-yard touchdown catch and run to make it a nine-point game. However, despite the Warriors’ late exploits, Naperville North is proving too strong as they qualify for the playoffs for the first time in four years.
