Sales of single-family detached homes in Evanston increased during this year’s second quarter.
The sales figures, compiled by Chicago Cityscape from sales recorded by the Cook County Clerk’s office, showed 159 properties sold in the year’s second quarter, up from 122 in the first quarter and 117 in the same period a year earlier
The median price of the homes sold increased to $613,000 in the second quarter from $555,000 in the first quarter and $597 in the same period a year earlier.
Nationwide median existing home prices hit a record $416,000 last month, and sales declined for the fifth straight month as higher interest rates pushed more byers out of the market.
