EJ Lindauer | Obituaries | duboiscountyherald.com

TROY — EJ Lindauer, 85, went to be with his Lord and Savior peacefully at his home in Evanston, Ind., on Sept. 10, 2022, surrounded by his beloved wife, Shirley “Brown” Lindauer of 65 years, and his five children and grandchildren by his side.

EJ was born in Troy, Ind., to Ethel and Irvin Lindauer. He was raised beside his siblings Norbert, Dorothea, Catherine, Marcy and Harry.

EJ worked for General Electric as a tool and die maker and later for the Town of Troy Street Department where he retired. After retirement, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and searching for Indian artifacts. He enjoyed gardening, as well as traveling weekly with his beloved wife, Shirley, to flea markets and many times out West to Wyoming, Montana and Utah to visit family. He very much enjoyed the morning trips to John Walker’s Tire Shop in Evanston for the rumors and gossip, plus the food the wives made for all the good ole boys. He enjoyed spending time with his favorite brother-in-law, Jerry Brown Sr., as well as his great friend, Robert “Bob” Tuggle, who preceded him in death last year and his good buddies, John Walker, Steve Philips and Keith Moseby who visited him every Sunday so mom could attend church.

He was a member of the squirrel club and the Tell City Church of Christ for more than 45 years.

EJ will be missed dearly by his beloved wife of 65 years, Shirley “Brown” Lindauer; his five children, Rick & Theresa, Randy & Debbie, Roger, Rita and Benny Johnston, and Rusty; and his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley “Brown” Lindauer; his five children; 12 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews. He is survived by one sibling Harry Lindauer.

EJ was preceded in death by many loved ones, including his parents; son, Ronnie Lindauer; and his siblings, Norbert, Dorothea, Catherine and Marcy.

The family wishes to give special thanks to Dr. Stephen Syler for his care of 38 years; his church members; Pastor Billy Lane; and Heart to Heart Hospice out of Jasper, Ind.

Services were Wednesday, Sept. 14, at Tell City Church of Christ. Billy Lane will be officiating. Burial will follow in the Lily Dale Church Cemetery.

Visitation was Tuesday, Sept. 13, and Wednesday, Sept. 14, at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home.
