Crime reports from south, southwest suburban police blotter

The following items were taken from police reports and news releases. An arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt.

DOMESTIC BATTERY: Kimberly Passanati, 24, of Chicago Ridge, was arrested and accused of domestic battery after a July 5 incident in the 6000 block of West 107th Street, police said.

SUSPENDED LICENSE: Lashun Russell, 31, of Chicago, was arrested and accused of driving on a suspended license, driving without lights when required, expired registration and no insurance July 10 in the 10600 block of Ridgeland Avenue, police said.

DOMESTIC BATTERY: Alsiddiq Hamed, 25, of Chicago Ridge, was arrested and accused of domestic battery after a July 9 incident in the 5700 block of West 111th Street, police said.

AGGRAVATED SPEEDING: Angel Jiminez-Ramirez, 21, of Bradley, was arrested and accused of aggravated speeding July 9 in the 6500 block of West 95th Street, police said.

SUSPENDED LICENSE: Derrick Sallay, 31, of Worth, was arrested and accused of driving on a suspended license, suspended registration and no insurance July 8 in the 6700 block of West 107th Street, police said.

SUSPENDED LICENSE: Aaron Bueno, 18, of Oak Lawn, was ticketed for no valid driver’s license, suspended registration and no insurance July 7 in the 6200 block of West 101st Street, police said.

SUSPENDED LICENSE: Joseph Spiess, 36, of the 2900 block of Rydal Street, New Lenox, was arrested and accused of driving on a suspended license July 8 at Laraway Road and Calistoga Drive, police said.

SUSPENDED LICENSE: Dana Difore, 35, of the 200 block of Tonell Avenue, New Lenox, was arrested and accused of driving on a suspended license July 12 after getting into a car accident near her home, police said.

FELONY THEFT: Niko Criado, 33, address unknown, was arrested and accused of felony retail theft after stealing $1,000 worth of merchandise from Menard’s. 6851 W. 159th St., on July 5, police said.

SUSPENDED LICENSE: Jalen Reed, 19, address unknown, was arrested and accused of driving on a suspended license and expired license July 2 at 183rd and Oak Park Avenue, police said.

BATTERY ARREST: Benjamin Potaczek, 39, address unknown, was arrested and accused of battery, resisting arrest and three counts of unlawful storage of a weapon July 3 in the 17800 block of Elmwood Drive, police said. Police said they discovered Potaczek asleep behind the wheel of his pickup truck with the engine running, When they saw a leather knife holster they began to pat Potaczek down for other weapons and he sat up and pushed a police officer away with both hands, according to a police report. Police also discovered a second knife between the driver’s seat and center seat, a billy-club style bludgeon and illegal fireworks in his car, according to a police report.

SPEEDING ARREST: Alfredo Morales III, 45, address unknown, was arrested and accused of misdemeanor speeding after police said he was driving 69 mph in a 35 mph zone in the 6400 block of 167th Street July 3, police said.

SUSPENDED LICENSE: Edward Bell, 53, address unknown, was arrested and accused of driving on a suspended license June 21 in the 15900 block of 76th Avenue, police said.

STOLEN WALLET: A man told police someone stole a backpack containing his wallet, a change of clothes and a phone charger from a banquet hall in the Odyssey Country Club, 19110 S. Ridgeland Ave., on June 21.

CAR BURGLARY: A man told police someone stole a red disaster bag containing a crank flashlight, emergency food packets and medical supplies from the trunk of his car June 22 when he was parked outside his home in the 6500 block of 163rd Place, police said.

LOCKER THEFT: A man told police someone cut the lock of his locker and stole $100 in cash from his book bag while he was exercising at Planet Fitness, 16189 Harlem Ave., police said.

CAR BURGLARY: A man told police someone stole a backpack from his car when it was parked outside of La Quinta, 7255 W. 183rd St., on June 23, police said.

RETAIL THEFT: Janice Nicastro, 50, address unknown, was arrested and accused of felony retail theft June 24 after stealing $8,090 worth of merchandise from Ulta, 7350 191st St., and then becoming involved in a hit and run crash at 191st Street and Harlem Avenue while fleeing the store, according to a police report.

RESISTING ARREST: Vincent D. Adams, 21, of the 4300 block of 181st Street, Country Club Hills, was arrested and accused of resisting police during a July 12 traffic stop at 178th Street and Chestnut Avenue after refusing to cooperate while being handcuffed for driving on a suspended license, suspended registration and disobeying a stop sign, police said.

FLEEING, ELUDING: Demontae A. Goston, 19, of the 2900 block of Nottingham Avenue, Markham, was arrested and accused of aggravated fleeing and eluding, reckless driving and hit-and-run July 13 following a pursuit that began at 169th Street and Pulaski Road when Country Club Hills officers learned the vehicle he was driving had been involved in an aggravated battery/firearm incident in Markham, police said. During the Country Club Hills pursuit, Goston drove across three lanes of traffic, into oncoming traffic and sideswiped three vehicles — including a Country Club Hills squad chasing him — before fleeing to Markham where he was apprehended, police said.

ASSAULT: Brian K. Thomas, 46, Chicago, was arrested and accused of aggravated assault, driving on a suspended license and illegally transporting alcohol July 15 in the 4400 block of 177th Street, police said.

RESISTING ARREST: Maisha Rowe, 33, Chicago, was arrested and accused of resisting a peace officer July 6 at Target, 17705 Halsted St., after refusing to be handcuffed during a retail-theft investigation, police said.

SUSPENDED LICENSE: Charles Coleman, 45, 14900 block of Irving Street, Dolton, was arrested and accused of driving on a suspended license, suspended registration and speeding July 8 at 183rd Street and Robin Lane, police said.

GUN ARREST: Justice Jackson, 24, 3900 block of Tower Drive, Richton Park, was arrested and accused of unlawfully possessing a weapon at 12:32 a.m. July 8 at Dolphin Lake Park after officers recovered a gun from him and determined both his FOID card and concealed carry license had been revoked, police said.

RETAIL THEFT: Nicholas Somenzi, 34, Chicago, was arrested July 8 at Home Depot, 17845 Halsted St., and accused of retail theft after stealing merchandise selling for $978, and additionally accused of retail theft by a convicted shoplifter after officers determined he had a prior conviction, police said.

BATTERY: Larissa Walker, 21, of the 3800 block 169th Street, Country Club Hills, was arrested and accused of battery and two counts of resisting police after grappling with officers and grabbing an officer’s arm while being handcuffed July 9 at 187th Street and Center Avenue, police said. Walker, stopped for disobeying a stop sign, was also accused of possessing gun ammunition without a FOID card, illegally transporting alcohol and illegally transporting cannabis in a moving vehicle, police said.

DUI: Alexis Medina, 21, Chicago, was arrested and accused of drunken driving with a blood-alcohol concentration above the legal limit, illegally tinted windshield and improper honking June 19 at 86th Street and Cicero Avenue, police said.

SUSPENDED LICENSE: Adam D. Fletcher, 39, Chicago, was arrested and accused of driving on a suspended license and expired registration June 20 at 95th Street and 49th Avenue, police said.

REVOKED LICENSE: Stephen B. Walker, 41, undisclosed block of Pulaski Road, Alsip, was arrested and accused of driving on a revoked license, no insurance and violating seat belt law, and additionally served with a bond-forfeiture warrant from an undisclosed jurisdiction for driving on a revoked license, police said.

RECKLESS DRIVING: Issac Aviles, 21, Chicago, was arrested and accused of reckless driving and aggravated speeding at 12:43 a.m. June 22 after driving 80 mph — 45 mph over the posted speed limit — on Cicero Avenue from 99th Street to 93rd Street where he was stopped by a train, police said.

SUSPENDED LICENSE: Laurel A.A. Mercado, 31, Chicago, was arrested and accused of driving on a suspended license and speeding June 22 at 87th Street and 55th Avenue in Burbank, police said.

SUSPENDED LICENSE: Zakiya A. Bedford, 27, Chicago, was arrested and accused of driving on a suspended license and expired registration June 23 at 99th Street and 54th Avenue, police said.

NO LICENSE: Elin Delacruz, 35, Chicago, was arrested and accused of driving without a valid license, driving on a suspended license, no insurance and expired registration June 23 at Southwest Highway and Massasoit Avenue, police said.

BATTERY: Oscar J. Rodriguez, 31, undisclosed block of Des Plaines Street, Blue Island, was arrested and accused of two counts of battery and one count of criminally damaging property June 23 at 95th Street and Cicero Avenue after officers determined he knocked a cellphone out of another motorist’s hand, hit her arm and pushed her as she tried to photograph his license plate following a two-vehicle crash, police said. Rodriguez was also accused of drunken driving, driving on a revoked license, no insurance and hit-and-run, police said. The other motorist was transported to a hospital after complaining about arm pain, police said.

RETAIL THEFT: Eric Lee Wright, 61, Chicago, was arrested and accused of retail theft June 23 at Home Depot, 4060 95th St., after stealing power tools selling for $440.67, police said.

NO LICENSE: Angel L. Guerrero, 38, undisclosed block of Natoma Avenue, Burbank, was arrested and accused of driving without a valid license and failing to yield to an emergency vehicle June 24 at 97th Street and Central Avenue, police said.

BATTERY: William K. Lindsey Jr., 47, Bradley, was arrested and accused of three counts of battery June 24 at 7-Eleven, 4501 95th St., after grappling with two employees and a customer in attempt to take cigarettes from behind the counter, police said.

SUSPENDED LICENSE: Anas, M. Abughoush, 18, undisclosed block of 105th Place, Oak Lawn, was arrested and accused of driving on a suspended license and no front registration plate June 25 at 95th Street and Massasoit Avenue, police said.

NO LICENSE: Fidel Aguilar, 44, Chicago, was arrested and accused of driving without a valid license, illegally tinted front windows, no headlights when required, no valid registration, improper use of registration and improper use of turn signal June 25 at 87th Street and Ridgeland Avenue, police said.

DUI: Cortez D. Jones, 47, Chicago, was arrested and accused of drunken driving, no insurance, improper lane use, illegal transportation of cannabis and failing to update his driver’s license June 25 at 97th Street and Central Avenue, police said.

DUI: Steven White, 41, Chicago, was arrested and accused of drunken driving, driving on a suspended license, no insurance, speeding, improper lane use, expired registration, illegally transporting alcohol and illegally transporting cannabis June 25 at 95th Street and 52nd Avenue, police said.

SUSPENDED LICENSE: Bianca J. Cisneros, 39, undisclosed block of Sproat Avenue, Oak Lawn, was arrested and accused of driving on a suspended license, no insurance and expired registration June 26 in an undisclosed block of 95th Street, police said.

DUI: Erica M. Hernandez, 30, Chicago, was charged — on approval of the Cook County state’s attorney’s office — with felony aggravated drunken driving and also accused of driving on a revoked license/DUI, no insurance, speeding, illegally transporting alcohol, illegally transporting cannabis and having a cracked windshield June 26 in an undisclosed block of Cicero Avenue, police said.

DUI: Adriana a. Gallardo, 21, undisclosed block of Menard Avenue, Oak Lawn, was arrested and accused of drunken driving, no insurance, aggravated speeding and violating seat belt law June 27 at 89th Street and Cicero Avenue, police said.

RETAIL THEFT: Anthony Wimberly, 59, undisclosed block of Western Avenue, Blue Island, was arrested and accused of retail theft June 27 at Home Depot, 4060 95th St., after stealing a portable air conditioning unit selling for $399, police said.

NO LICENSE: Richard D. Cox Jr., 32, Chicago, was arrested and accused of driving without a valid license, no insurance, disobeying a traffic-control device, no front plate and no valid registration June 28 in an undisclosed block of Cicero Avenue, police said.

WARRANT SERVICE: Ramon Rangels, 31, undisclosed block of 167th Street, Harvey, was served with a Cook County bond-forfeiture warrant June 28 at the police station while retrieving property from a previous law-enforcement interaction, police said.

NO LICENSE: Ebony F. Ritenour, 45, undisclosed block of 115th Street, Worth, was arrested and accused of driving without a valid license, no insurance and speeding June 28 at 95th Street and 51st Avenue, police said.

WARRANT SERVICE: Kayla A. Thompson-Brim, 24, Forest Park, was taken into custody on a Kane County warrant for failing to appear in court during a June 28 traffic stop at 95th Street and 52nd Avenue, police said.

NARCOTICS: Joshua Dezort, 23, Chicago, was arrested and accused of two counts of illegally possessing a controlled substance June 29 at an undisclosed Southwest Highway location after officers recovered nearly 1 1/2 grams of suspected cocaine and six black-market tranquilizer pills during an unresponsive motorist investigation, police said. Dezort was also accused of five counts of resisting a peace officer/obstructing in connection with officers’ later efforts to place him in a holding cell, police said.

NO LICENSE: Abdulrab A. Kassim, 20, undisclosed block of Major Avenue, Chicago Ridge, was arrested and accused of driving without a valid license, no insurance, improperly displayed registration and a minor possessing tobacco July 1 at Southwest Highway and 49th Avenue after officers determined he had only an instructional driver’s permit and multiple cartons of cigarettes, police said.

NO LICENSE: Ebrahim Altellawy, 34, Cicero, was arrested and accused of driving without a valid license, driving on a suspended license and no insurance July 2 in the 9400 block of Cicero Avenue, police said.

BATTERY: Makyra J. Davis, 18, Chicago, was arrested and accused of battery July 2 at Fridays, 5420 95th St., after throwing a cup at an employee while discussing her bill, police said.

WARRANT SERVICE: Yolanda L. Holmes, 23, Chicago, was taken into custody on a LaSalle County deceptive-practice warrant July 2 at 95th Street and Cook Avenue during an investigation into an incident at a restaurant in the 5400 block of 95th Street, police said.

ILLEGAL FIREWORKS: Bader N. Issa, 18, undisclosed block of 51st Avenue, Oak Lawn, was arrested and accused of illegally possessing fireworks, illegally transporting alcohol, illegally transporting cannabis and unlawful possession of an air pistol July 2 in that block, police said.

DUI: Irving Mercado, 33, Chicago, was arrested and accused of drunken driving, illegally transporting alcohol and illegally transporting cannabis July 2 in the 10700 block of Cicero Avenue, police said.

OBSTRUCTING: Kameela Knowles, 23, Downers Grove, was arrested and accused of obstructing police July 3 at 95th Street and Nashville after interfering with the arrest of the driver of the car in which she riding, police said. In a related action, Vontae R. Voker, 24, Woodridge, was arrested and accused of reckless driving, aggravated speeding, improper turning, squealing tires and expired registration following a nearly mile-long pursuit that began in the 5900 block of Southwest Highway, with speeds reaching 99 mph, police said.

GUN ARREST: Justin A. Ward, 29, undisclosed block of Dante Avenue, Dolton, was charged by the Cook County state’s attorney’s office with felony aggravated unlawful use of a weapon following officers’ recovery of a 9 mm handgun from a backpack “immediately accessible to the driver” and three bullets in a zippered compartment during a July 5 traffic stop at 97th Street and Ridgeland Avenue, police said. Ward had a FOID card, but didn’t have a concealed carry license, police said.

VANDALISM: A commercial trash bin was reported damaged by fire July 5 behind a dentist’s office in an undisclosed section of Southwest Highway.
