Charles V. Swanson, age 88, a resident of Naperville, IL since 1956, passed away peacefully on August 22, 2022 at Rush-Copley Medical Center, Aurora. He was born on August 8, 1934 in Crisfield, MD, and grew up in Chicago, IL. Charles is survived by his cherished children, David (Christie) Swanson of Naperville, Paul Swanson of Chicago, and Carolyn (Chris) Enstad of Madison, WI; his adored grandchildren, Sofia, Clare, Dylan, Liam, Liv, Quinn, and Berit; as well as his loving companion, Carol Rice, who made the last four years some of his happiest. He was preceded in death by his wife, Santa Swanson. A proud graduate of Northwestern University, Class of 1956, Charles earned his bachelor’s degree in education. He settled in Naperville in 1956 where he was a wholesale representative for the Kroehler Manufacturing Co. He enjoyed a lifelong career in the furniture industry and retired in 2000. Charles loved to travel and learn about the places he visited. A lifelong Cubs fan, he enjoyed watching a game at the Lantern with a burger and a cold Old-Style. Sir Charles also loved fine dining and would hold court wherever he went. He will be deeply missed. Private family services will be held at the Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Naperville and interment will be at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Hillside.
