From the City of Evanston:
To accommodate the annual Bike the Ridge event, Ridge Avenue will be closed to all vehicle traffic from Howard to Church streets this Sunday, Sept. 25, from 8 am to 2 pm, rain or shine.
Bicycles are normally not permitted on Ridge, but during Bike the Ridge they are the only conveyances allowed on the four-lane street.
Residents who live on Ridge will not be able to exit from their driveways during this time, and should park their vehicle on a nearby side street if they plan to drive during the event.
Traffic control will be in place at all side streets and major cross streets along Ridge. When safe, traffic control officers will facilitate vehicles to cross east-west at the following locations:
- Davis/Ridge
- Lake/Ridge
- Dempster/Ridge
- Greenleaf/Ridge
- Main/Ridge
- Oakton/Ridge
Bike the Ridge is a free, non-competitive City-sponsored special event. The event will run from 9 am to 1 pm on Sunday, Sept 25. To learn more about Bike the Ridge, visit cityofevanston.org/biketheridge or call/text 847-448-4311. For convenience, residents may simply dial 311 in Evanston.
