Beverly Esser Obituary (1929 – 2022) – Naperville, IL

Beverly Zaininger “Bev” Esser, age 93, a 6th Generation resident of Naperville, IL, passed away on Tuesday, May 10, 2022, in her home at Villa St. Benedict in Lisle, IL. She was born on April 18, 1929, in Aurora, IL.

Beloved wife of the late Robert C. Esser, whom she married October 13, 1951 and who preceded her in death on December 27, 1983, loving mother of Mary D. (Tom Huerter) Esser of Naperville and Kathryn L. (Frank Kosiek) Esser of Naperville, adored grandmother of Jennifer (Jason) Hill and Jaclyn (Courtney) Flowe, cherished great-grandmother of Harper, Quinn and Grant Hill; Callie Flowe, devoted daughter of the late Glenn and Izora (nee Rich) Zaininger, dear sister of Shirley Zaininger (the late Barry) Gibson of New Lenox, IL and the late Linda Zaininger, sister-in-law of the late Howard (the late Virginia) Esser, fond aunt of William (Lynn) Esser, David (Diane) Esser, James (Janet) Esser, Kenneth (Dana) Gibson, Laurel Gibson (Dave) Keating, Barbara Gibson (Chris) Arthur and the late John Esser , great-aunt, great-great aunt and friend of many.

Beverly grew up in Naperville, attended Naperville High School (Class of 1947) and was a 1951 graduate of North Central College in Naperville with a degree in music. She was proudly elected Homecoming Queen in both high school and college.

Bev was a former Teacher’s Aide and Picture Lady at SS. Peter & Paul Grade School in Naperville. She also served as former president of the Naperville Garden Club and former regent of the DAR Fort Payne Chapter.

Bev enjoyed tennis, golf, water-skiing, cross-country skiing, ceramic painting, and gardening. Her favorite hobby was fishing for muskies every summer at Boyd’s Resort in Fifield, WI. The Esser family wants to thank the Simon family for their hospitality and love towards Bev. Bev was very social, enjoyed entertaining family and friends and no one ever left her home hungry.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 12, 2022, 4:00-8:00 PM at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville. Due to COVID concerns, masks are preferred.

Family and friends will meet Friday, May 13, 10:00 AM at SS. Peter & Paul Cemetery, Naperville for graveside services.

Bev moved to Villa St. Benedict in 2015 and enjoyed meeting many new friends. The Esser family wants to thank all residents and staff at Villa St. Benedict who enriched Bev’s life in such a wonderful way.
