Bears lose Roquan Smith in Thanksgiving Win vs. Lions – NBC Chicago

Bears lose another defensive star in Victory vs. Lions that originally appeared on NBC Sports Chicago

The bears’ losing streak continued on Thanksgiving Day in Detroit. Midway through the first half, the Bears lost Roquan Smith to a hamstring injury and he never returned. Head coach Matt Nagy had no post-game update on the severity of Smith’s injury.

Smith was one of the top players in the Bear’s defense that year, not just from a production standpoint but also as a leader. At the start of the game on Thursday, he was in the NFL’s top five in total tackles and was well on the way to breaking his personal record of 139 tackles.

The defense was already without the stars Khalil Mack and Akiem Hicks, who went into the game. Eddie Jackson and Eddie Goldman also missed several games with their own injuries.

The offense was also dealt a blow. Marquise Goodwin was eliminated with a foot injury and was later expelled. Goodwin was a major contributor to the increase in explosive plays, collecting 186 yards from seven catches in the three weeks prior.
