Vehicle stolen on Powder Hill Drive – Chicago Tribune

The following items were taken from Northbrook Police Department reports, news releases and records. An arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt.

DUI

Gary L. Specks of Wheeling was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and improper lane usage June 19. Police stopped Specks after observing him steer his vehicle into the median near the intersection of Dundee and Portwine roads. After stopping him, police determined he was intoxicated. He was released on bond and is scheduled to appear in Cook County court Aug. 3 in Skokie.

Mary E. Reckamp of Northbrook was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol June 22. Police responded to a call of a woman stopped in traffic and apparently sleeping near the intersection of Anets Drive and Techny Road. When police arrived they found her drinking an alcoholic beverage while sitting in the driver’s seat. She failed a field sobriety test. She was released on bond and is scheduled to appear in Cook County court Aug. 4 in Skokie.

INVALID LICENSE

Luis E. Maldonado-Guerrero of Evanston was charged with driving with a suspended license, operation of an uninsured motor vehicle and improper use of registration June 19. Police stopped her near the intersection of Dundee and Waukegan roads after observing improper registration of the vehicle. A check showed his license was suspended. He was released on bond and is scheduled to appear in Cook County court Aug. 3 in Skokie.

STOLEN VEHICLE

A person reported June 22 their vehicle was stolen in the overnight hours while parked in the 200 block of Powder Horn Drive. Parts of the vehicle were found lying next to the curb.

BURGLARY

A person reported June 22 parking their vehicle in the 300 block of West Lee Road overnight and returning to find $6 and a screwdriver missing.

While investigating burglaries in the vicinity of 1000 Williamsburg Drive, a police officer observed a vehicle with a door ajar and a jacket hanging out June 22. After contacting the owner, police learned cash and a pair of sunglasses were taken.

A person reported parking their vehicle in the 1200 block of Sanders Road June 22. When the person returned, the person discovered the console slightly ajar and door damaged. A wallet containing credit cards was missing and $3,000 in fraudulent transactions were made.

A person reported June 22 returning to their vehicle after parking it overnight in the 1300 block of Williamsburg Drive and noticed the glove compartment was open with $30 taken.

THEFT

A woman entered a retail business in the 1400 block of Lake Cook Road June 18, took a sweater valued at $800 and left without paying.

Loss prevention staff at a retail business in the 1000 block of Willow Road reported June 20 a theft of $387 took place May 26, an $802 theft occurred June 7 and on June 8 an individual took merchandise valued at $334.

A person reported their wallet was stolen from their purse in the 100 block of Skokie Blvd. The person’s driver’s license, two credit cards and $200 were taken.

A person reported an unknown individual stole the catalytic converter from their vehicle while it was parked in the 1400 block of Sunset Ridge Road June 21.

FORGERY

A person was informed by their bank June 18 an unknown individual manufactured checks with the person’s business account information on them. A total of six checks were found to be fraudulent totaling $27,000.
