The Levy Senior Center Foundation is proud to bring the talents of young, award-winning classical musicians to the Levy Senior Center. The outstanding lineup continues to honor the memory of Fran Randall who loved classical music and played an important role in opening the current center. All are welcome.
Join the Levy Senior Center on May 20 at 1:30 pm in the Maple Room for a special spring classical concert! This in-person Fran Randall concert will feature performances by gifted young musicians Clara Zhang on piano and Jenny Shin on flute accompanied by Theresa Kang on piano.
Admission is for Levy Music Series’ is free, and no registration is required.
About the Musicians:
Clara Zhang is a merit-scholarship fellow at the Music Institute of Chicago’s Academy, a nationally recognized top training center for highly gifted pre-college musicians. She has performed extensively at piano recitals, chamber music concerts and music outreach programs. She has performed on the stages of Ravinia’s Bennett Gordon Hall, Nichols Concert Hall, Chicago Culture Center, Northeastern University Recital Hall, and most recently the virtual stage of Make Music Chicago.
Jenny Shin is an avid performer in the Chicago area. She has been on the flute faculty of DePaul University since 2017, where she is one of the applied flute instructors, woodwind pedagogy instructor and chamber music coach. As a collaborator of wide ranges, she shared stages with prestigious ensembles such as the Lyric Opera of Chicago, Champaign-Urbana Symphony Orchestra, Fifth House Ensemble, Sinfonia da Camera and the San Antonio Symphony. She completed her Doctorate of Musical Arts in 2019 at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign under the tutelage of Dr. Jonathan Keeble.
Teresa Kang is a celebrated pianist who has performed all over the US, as well as in Europe and Asia. She has worked as a vocal coach and accompanist at the Opera on the James, Lynchburg, Virginia, the Italian Operatic Experience in Montecatini, Italy, as well as at the Opera Training Institute of Chicago in Evanston, Illinois. Kang recently performed at Carnegie Hall in New York as part of the American Protégé Winner’s Recital. She also performed at Ravinia Festival with DuPage Dance Company.
