Neuqua Valley Softball wants to continue its longest postseason run in nine years, but now has to host the Plainfield North Tigers. This highlight will be presented by the BMO Harris Bank.
It’s time for the softball semi-finals as the # 2 seeded Neuqua Valley is home to the # 3 seeded Plainfield North Tigers. Neuqua wins a 10-0 win over Bolingbrook while North Naperville defeated Central 14-4.
We start in the lower area of the 1st Neuqua has runners in 2nd and 3rd place when Hannah Meeks hits a liner in the right field and brings in Ella Kooi for the opening run.
Neuqua is still beating in the 1st and the bases are now loaded and Kaitlyn Wagner is up to the beat. She hits an absolute shot in the deep center that leaves the park for the Grand Slam. Neuqua led 5-0 early on.
How about a little more early action when Neuqua’s Alexa Carrozza hits a sinking liner in the middle and a couple of Plainfield North mistakes allow Carrozza to get all the way around for a goal. And it’s pumped! 6-0 wild cats.
We stick with the Neuqua thugs while Izzy Ernest hits a one-hopper into left field and brings in Kayla Shymkewich, who extends the lead to 7 and we haven’t even played 2 full innings yet.
Top of the 3rd and North seek an answer when Brooke Knox hits deep in the middle, resulting in a triple and allowing Victoria Countryman to bring the Tigers onto the board.
At the bottom of the 3rd and up to the bat is Ella Kooi, whose chopper brings Carrozza home in the middle. 8-1 new qua.
The next pitch and it’s Ernest’s turn to hit the middle and bring in Shymkewich and Kooi. The result is now 10-1 after 3.
The end of 5th place and Neuqua wants to end the game and Carrozza does just that with a solo home run that gives Neuqua an 11-1 win and a date against the number 1 seeded Yorkville in the section finals.
