NAPERVILLE, IL — Residents in Naperville are advised they may hear loud sirens on Oct. 10 as Braniff performs routine maintenance on its outdoor warning sirens.
The sirens will each be activated individually, possibly causing audible testing between 8 am and 5 pm each day until the maintenance wraps up on Oct. 14
City officials say this routine maintenance is not linked to changes made after Naperville’s sirens failed to go off during tornadoes on July 23, 2022. Those issues were resolved by the siren manufacturer, according to the City of Naperville.
During the October maintenance, residents are reminded that sirens will sound when a tornado warning has been issued. Residents who hear sirens accompanied by severe weather are encouraged to take immediate shelter.
