Naperville Art League plans public art competition, calls for artists

Above / The Naperville Fine Art Center & Gallery is located at 508 N. Center Street at Fifth Avenue. The Naperville Art League is planning it annual Public Art Competition with a call for artists until 4PM Sat., April 11, 2023.

Artists from Naperville and surrounding communities are invited to participate for cash prizes in Naperville Art League’s annual Public Art Competition.

Artists may submit one entry per person under the theme “Chromesthesia.” The piece must be original in design, concept, and execution. It can be any media or mixed-media, and either 2D or 3D. Size restrictions apply. Deadline for submissions is 4PM Sat., April 11, 2023, with no extensions.

All entries will be on display and open to the public April 18 through May 6, 2023, at the Naperville Fine Art Center & Gallery, 508 N. Center St., Naperville 60563.

An artists reception will take place from 2 to 4PM, Sun., April 23. An awards presentation will be at 3PM.

Two age categories: high school/college age and adult

Two age categories for entries are high school/college age and adult. Cash prizes will be awarded for Best of Show ($300) and Awards of Excellence ($100). Honorable Mentions will receive an award card. Winners will be publicized. The entry fee is $30 for non-members and $15 for Naperville Art League members. Entries must be accompanied by entry form and an artist’s statement.

NAL food drive will benefit Loaves & Fishes Community Services

Along with the show, Naperville Art League is hosting a food drive to benefit Loaves & Fishes Community Services. Non-perishable food items may be brought to the Gallery throughout the show.

Gallery hours are 10AM to 5PM Tuesday through Friday and 10AM to 4PM on Saturday.

What’s the Naperville Art League?

Naperville Art League is a 501c3 nonprofit organization that provides art instruction and education, encourages all forms of creative art, and works to stimulate understanding and appreciation of art in the community.

The League offers art classes for all ages, has monthly gallery shows, and plans/hosts the annual outdoor Riverwalk Fine Art Fair held in September in downtown Naperville.
