Morgan Park Academy’s Honors MLK At Oak Lawn Children’s Museum
OAK LAWN, IL — If you’re working from home or taking the day off with your kids for Martin Luther King Jr. Day, the Children’s Museum in Oak lawn, 5100 Museum Drive, will be open Monday, Jan. 16, from 9 am to 4 pm
While you are at the museum, stop by the Tuneful Treehouse to visit an art installation presented by Morgan Park Academy to honor Martin Luther King Jr.
Inspired by Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I Have A Dream” speech, students created Ruby Bridges walking on clouds carrying a red balloon to represent hope for the future. Students referenced new and old masters to create various works of art while learning about serialism, a musical composition technique used since World War I.
Students visited the museum with their families last week to perform John Lennon’s iconic “Imagine” as they unveiled their art installation.
