Mariana D. Grimson (nee Rohan), age 88, of Sycamore, IL, formerly of Villa Park, Naperville and Huntley, IL, passed away on Saturday, June 11, 2022, at Bethany Health & Rehab in DeKalb, IL. She was born March 6, 1934, in Oak Park, IL.
Beloved wife of the late John H. Grimson, whom she married September 12, 1953 and who preceded her in death on November 21, 2019, loving mother of Michael (Cecilia) Grimson of Sycamore, Mark (Myrna) Grimson of Lubbock, TX and James Grimson of Algonquin, IL, adored grandmother of Victoria (Henry) Velasquez, Sandra (Justin) Maahs and Samantha (Dustin) Buse, Peter and Stephen Grimson; David Grimson; Sarah and Anna Grimson, cherished great-grandmother of Michaela, Sebastian and Austin; Cole, Kenzie and Abigail, devoted daughter of the late Edwin and Marion (nee Vossler) Rohan, fond aunt, great-aunt and friend of many.
Mariana grew up in Chicago and was a graduate of Steinmetz High School. She was a resident of Naperville’s Willow Way subdivision from 1969-1999 before moving to Huntley. Mariana was a former member of SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church and founding member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, both in Naperville and a member of St. Thomas’s 50 & Holding Club. She also enjoyed volunteering her time with the Boy Scouts and for local elections.
Visitation Tuesday, June 21, 2022, 5:00-8:00 PM at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville.
Services will begin Wednesday, June 22, 9:45 AM from the funeral home and will proceed to a 10:30 AM Mass of Christian Burial in the chapel at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 1500 Brookdale Rd., Naperville.
Interment will follow at SS. Peter & Paul Cemetery, Naperville.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Mariana’s memory to a local humane society or animal shelter.
