A man died Wednesday after falling ten feet off a staircase from the CTA Blue Line platform in the Logan Square neighborhood Tuesday night, Chicago police said.
An internal CTA review of the video from the incident shows a man, believed to be in his 30s, climbed the banister to the outside of the stairs. After climbing over the railing while standing on the outside of a staircase, he fell off the staircase structure, a CTA spokesman said.
He was rushed to the Advocate Illinois Masonic Hospital in critical condition, where he was pronounced dead Wednesday around 12:30 p.m., about four hours after the incident, said the Cook County coroner’s office, which had not yet identified the man .
Officials said the man may have been drunk at the time of his fatal fall in the northwest of the city.
