Door Dashers help get Loaves & Fishes food to those in need

As the line of vehicles outside our building continues to grow in record numbers, Loaves & Fishes continues to focus on making food accessible to families in need by offering additional ways to get food.

Clients can shop in person at the Loaves & Fishes’ Naperville Market or receive prepacked boxes of food through curbside service at three different locations. Additionally, clients can conveniently order food through the Online Market and now have the option of having it delivered through DoorDash.

Loaves & Fishes has partnered with DoorDash’s Project DASH to provide families in need the option to have their groceries delivered right to their homes at no cost to them or Loaves & Fishes. Due to lack of transportation or mobility challenges, many families face challenges getting the help they need.

The delivery process is simple and has shown great success during its launch phase. We have found the DoorDash drivers equally excited to be a part of providing this service to community members in need. Clients can access the Online Market through Loaves & Fishes’ website or by visiting lffood.org. They can then select fresh fruits and vegetables, dairy, proteins, beverages, bread, frozen foods, personal care products, household products, and infant care and have them delivered right to their door.

We have seen a 60% increase in need since the beginning of 2022 and serve more than 5,000 people per week. The negative effects of high inflation are disproportionately felt by low-income households, which spend nearly all of their income on housing, transportation, and food.

As we brace ourselves for the continued ride of inflation, we are working together to make sure that our community has access to the healthy food they need for their families. By offering these additional ways to get food, we continue to provide hope and help ease the minds and hearts of struggling families.
