Citing the vaccine mandate, Bob Chinns Crab House will cease operations in Wheeling for a month

Citing Cook County’s vaccination records, the popular Bob Chinn’s Crab House in Wheeling will be closed for the next month, management announced on Saturday.

“Due to unforeseen business circumstances caused by Cook County’s new mandate for the COVID-19 vaccination card, we made the difficult decision to temporarily close our doors,” the announcement said on the restaurant’s website Facebook site.

The seafood restaurant on S. Milwaukee Ave. 393 on Wheeling’s Restaurant Row will cease both indoor dining and takeaway operations by February 7, the announcement said. The last day of operation before the break was Sunday.

“We plan to take this opportunity to reset the restaurant, continue our building updates, and give our team much-needed rest and relaxation after an incredibly busy Christmas season,” the announcement reads. “COVID has affected us in many ways, but the health and safety of our team members and guests is and will always come first.”

The restaurant emphasized that the dining room was open in accordance with all federal and local government guidelines.
