With snow likely in the area as of Friday night, the Chicago Department of Roads and Sewerage has begun deploying plows and salt spreaders across the city.
Light snowfall is expected in the evening hours, with the most steady snow showers expected between 6 p.m. and midnight, according to the National Weather Service.
The Department of Streets and Sanitation has activated its Phase 2 snow program, which means a total of 211 salt spreaders will be deployed across the city.
Due to expected snowfall, slippery patches are possible on area roads, particularly on bridges and overpasses.
