2 Illinois residents die from gunshot wounds at Franciscan Health | National News

DYER — Two people from Illinois died at the Franciscan Health Dyer emergency room due to gunshot wounds Saturday.

Markus Simmons, 31, of Ford Heights, Illinois, sustained gunshot wounds near his home, and the manner of death is a homicide, according to the Lake County coroner’s office.

Damien Myers, 16, of Lynwood, Illinois, sustained a gunshot wound near his home and was pronounced dead at the Franciscan Health ER, according to the Lake County coroner’s office. The manner of death is a homicide.

Other agencies involved with both homicides included the Cook County Sheriff’s Office and Bud’s Ambulance Services.

The Cook County Sheriff’s Office was not immediately available for more information.
